Our VaPURE Process

VaPURE treatment reaches mold spores.

Other companies use fog to treat mold, even with similar chemicals. What's different is how we use them — and how it benefits you. Our patented two-part VaPURE process is designed to treat mold throughout your home, extensively researched by the Army Corps of Engineers.

VaPURE, Explained

Why size is everything.

VaPURE particles are so small they bounce off surfaces instead of sticking and creating moisture. That gives us a number of unique benefits: our particles are about half the size of a mold spore, sized to reach areas mold spores travel. Because it's so effective, we can also use a lower concentration of chemicals in your home — and the treatment is formulated to leave no residue on electronics and home furnishings.

Stage 1 · Treatment EPA-listed sterilant Safer Chemical Ingredients List

Our sterilant stage — mold treatment and disinfection

Stage 1 of the North State Pure Maintenance two-part VaPURE process

The active component of our sterilant is on the EPA's Safer Chemical Ingredients List, and breaks down into natural byproducts shortly after treatment: acetic acid (white vinegar), oxygen, and water. Here's the breakdown of the chemistry that does the work during the VaPURE mold-treatment stage.

Acetic Acid

A household disinfectant — when mixed with water it becomes vinegar.

Peracetic Acid

A common disinfectant that does most of the heavy lifting during treatment. By the time we're done, no trace of it remains in the home.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Also commonly found in the home — used as an antiseptic for cuts and scrapes.

Together, these three ingredients disperse as an ultra-fine mist that reaches mold and odor throughout your home without leaving a film or residue behind — at least one-tenth the size of a conventional fogging droplet, and about half the size of a mold spore.

Because the particles are so fine, they stay airborne longer and travel into micro-cracks and crevices that a wet spray often can't reach without soaking the surface.

Stage 2 · Prevention Mechanical, not chemical Supports our re-treatment terms

Our antimicrobial protectant — helping resist future mold growth

Stage 2 of the North State Pure Maintenance two-part VaPURE process

Our antimicrobial protectant uses mechanical means, not chemical reactions, to help protect your home after we leave. After treatment, surfaces carry a protectant layer with microscopic spikes facing outward.

500T Spikes fit on the surface of a single quarter
1/1,000 The size of a human hair, per spike
+ Each spike carries a positive electrical charge from a single Nitrogen atom

Mold spores and other unwanted particles are negatively charged — and attracted to the spikes like magnets. On impact, the spikes physically disrupt the particle on contact. There's no residue, texture, or chemical release, and you'll never know the spikes are there.

It's an ongoing, physical line of defense rather than a chemical one — which is why it keeps working long after the sterilant stage has finished and dissipated.

Third-Party Verified Army Corps of Engineers

Effectiveness verified by independent testing

Third-party lab analysis · every treatment

Our patented two-part VaPURE process is studied by the Army Corps of Engineers — and we take pride in that independent verification. A third-party lab confirms results on every job with before-and-after sampling.

We don't ask you to take our word for it. We perform before-and-after air sampling on every job so you and we can both be confident the treatment worked as expected.

The EPA has tested results out to 90 days. Ask us about our re-treatment terms for coverage beyond that window.
